I can't believe it's already June. June really crept up on me this year, maybe it's because there was none of that end of the school year anticipation and excitement (since the year year here ends in February) that I lost track of time. It seems like just yesterday I was battling the intense coldness that is a Korean winter. For this review, I'm going to talk a bit about what my experience was like last winter. This was my first winter in Korea and my skin was chronically dry. The weather in Ulsan is dry and bitterly cold, completely different from the mild winters I've experienced in Georgia. I tried using various creams but no matter what it was my skin felt dry again within a few hours. My acne flared up and I felt like the dryness only slowed the healing process. I became really frustrated with my skin. It was one of those periods when I felt really self conscious about my skin, especially living in Korea where it seems like everyone else has flawless skin. Bad skin, bad weather, lack of sunlight, separated from my family during the holiday season... I really hit a low point during the winter.

At wits' end, I walked into Missha and decided I would give the Super Aqua Ultra Waterfull Cream a shot. Typically when I go shopping for cosmetics, I have something particular in mind that I want. When I came into Missha that day I was so frustrated, I just tried creams until I found the thickest one. This was in February and I only wish that I had discovered it earlier. According to the box this is a "moisturizing cream to help fortify skin's moisture barrier to keep moisture in and plump skin with hydration". It's a "wrinkle care & whitening cosmetic" and touts that it has been "24-hour skin moisturizing tested". Wrinkles aren't yet a problem for me but I can say without a doubt that The Super Aqua Ultra Waterfull (god that's a mouthful -.-) line's claim to fame is "Aqua-STEM™"-- the use of the calluses of sea and desert plants. The callus cells are the ones that heal a plant's wounds (it's pretty weird to think about plants having wounds too, huh? XD). The thought behind it is simple, those cells help plants that are great at retaining their moisture so can they also help our skin retain its moisture? Just like the name promises, the ingredient that stands out the most in this product is water. Not only is it the first ingredient on the list but there are actually 3 different types of water used in this product: Mineral Water, Onsen Water, and Seawater. Not only does this product add water to the skin, but ingredients like glycerin serve as a way to keep in the moisture.

Super Aqua Ultra Waterfull Cream is packaged in a simple plastic container. The consistency is thick, not runny at all. I believe it's one of the thickest among Missha's products. It costs 24,800₩ ($21) for a 47 ml container. I love Missha's Super Aqua Ultra Waterfull Cream. It's the only one I've tried that actually left my skin feeling hydrated in the winter. I can't stress this enough. Not only did it help my skin condition but it also helped my mental state. My frustration with my skin disappeared and I felt much more confident. For me it would be too much moisture for the warmer months (since my skin is combination in the summer) but it's just right for the winter.
My ratings
Price: 4/5. It's not cheap considering it's a relatively small container but I've used creams that were $50 and this was much more effective.
Effectiveness: 4.5/5. If you're looking for intense moisture, this is the one for you.
Packaging: 4/5. Not particularly innovative, slightly bulking considering the amount of product.
Overall: 4/5. Worth every penny.
Repurchase? Yes. I will definitely have this one on hand when the weather starts getting cold again!
TL;DR Missha's Super Aqua Ultra Waterfull Cream is the product that got me through the winter.
Summer's here and I'll need to switch to a cream that's more suited for combination skin. If you have any recommendations, leave them in the comments below ^^
